In December 2006, the UK’s Serious Fraud Office terminated its corruption investigation into BAE Systems’ Al Yamamah military contract with Saudi Arabia. The Corner House and Campaign Against Arms Trade have initiated a legal challenge to the decision. Transparency International states the decision "poses the most significant threat to the success of the OECD Convention since it was adopted in 1997". In January, 140 NGOs called on Prime Minister Tony Blair to re-open the corruption investigation.
