In May 2014, the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights found admissible the communication concerning gross human rights violations that occurred in Kilwa, DRC in October 2004. The Institute for Human Rights and Development in Africa (IHRDA), l’Action contre l’impunité des droits humains (ACIDH) and Rights and Accountability in Development (RAID) welcome the African Commission’s decision which is an important step in the long struggle to seek an effective remedy for the Kilwa victims.
